What are some of examples of lead magnets?
Most visitors stay on a website for only 10-20 seconds.
Within those precious few seconds, you’re supposed to capture their attention, hold it long enough to engage them, present your offer, and give a call-to-action (CTA) that will compel them to take positive action.
How do you do all that within 10-20 seconds? With lead magnets.
As a marketer, it’s your job to effectively drive awareness, build trust, and establish credibility for your brand. Given limited audience attention spans, lead magnets are the perfect way to connect with customers while communicating real value.
In my experience, these are the most effective lead magnets:
1. Sample Products, Discounts, or Coupons
This lead magnet is best for retail businesses that can immediately showcase and demonstrate the benefits of their product. Sample products, outright discounts, or even coupons satisfy most audience needs for immediate gratification and, while they require a bit more overhead cost on the business’s part to give away, they’re also known to deliver more leads.
2. Training Videos
There are some industries that fail to tap into the potential of lead magnets because they think it’s hard to offer something tangible that would be of value to their audience. I found myself in the same position very early on, but I realized that my experience in the industry could allow me to create content that would be of great use to my audience.
Training videos are a great way to do this. Just remember to keep it simple and straightforward, but relevant and informative, since you do have to produce the training videos yourself.
3. Templates
Similar to training videos, templates are useful resources that audiences are often more than willing to trade their email addresses for. The key is to make the template relevant to them.
For example, me being a content marketer, the best performing lead magnet templates I’ve offered my audience include content calendars and email templates.
4. Free Trials
This is best for software companies that want to give their audience the option to try a product or service before they commit to a purchase. These are especially useful if your product or service is very technical or complicated and requires more hands-on experience to truly understand its value.
5. Case Studies
Case studies that are well written, informative, and comprehensive are the perfect way to both demonstrate your effectiveness as a brand or service while also offering valuable insight and data that your audience wants. By providing your audience with real-life examples, you can easily put the spotlight on your product or service.
With the right lead magnet, it’s easy to capture the attention of your audience and present a valuable offer they’ll appreciate. If I had to offer one more important tip, it’s that you should always get to know your audience to understand what they need and want from your brand.
