Does blogging help digital marketing?
Yes, definitely.
According to studies, 57% of marketers say they gain customers through blogging. 53% of marketers maintain that blogging is their top priority, while B2B marketers who blog get 67% more leads than those who don’t.
Exactly how does blogging help your digital marketing efforts? Since I started Leadspanda, I’ve discovered that blogging can help boost my digital marketing efforts in three distinct ways:
1. It Helps with SEO and Building Steady Traffic
Think about how a potential customer or client finds your website. In a lot of cases, the customer may not even be aware of the existence of your brand or service. They’re probably typing in a general question on Google and finding you.
When you blog consistently, you create more pages and thus more opportunities for search engines to crawl your site as well as more possible keyword combinations that could pull up your website in searches.
This helps us in multiple ways. It makes our blogs more searchable; it boosts our chances of showing up at the top of search results, it introduces our brands to more people, and at the end of the day, all these will work to boost traffic to our sites.
2. Supports Lead Generation, Nurtures Customers, and Improves Conversion Rates
Once you have all that traffic going to your site, a good blog can help your potential customers remain interested and engaged.
Your blog can serve as a platform to answer your customers’ questions by addressing all their concerns and queries. By providing content that readily addresses issues and concerns, your blog becomes recognized as an authority in the industry.
As a credible source of information, you’ll drive more qualified leads to your website, where you can nurture them to become paying customers.
3. Gain Better Insight into Your Audience
Blogging helps you understand your audience better, which I think is very important for successful digital marketing. Simply considering topics to write about already puts you in a position where you have to think the way your target audience thinks. That’s a good exercise in understanding their motivations. It also helps you improve your website to truly address their needs, thereby becoming more relevant.
The analytics that your blog can gather are also very valuable. The metrics you collect month after month as you pursue your blogging efforts allow you to understand what subjects resonate best with your audience, what content they share most, and even what time of day they read your content. Remember, the more you know about your audience, the more opportunities you have to nurture and help them move down the sales funnel so you can get better conversion rates.
Hope my answer helps! If you have any questions, shoot me an email at Leadspanda. I promise to get back to you as soon as I can.
