How can Twitter be used as an effective marketing tool?
As far as social media goes, the ubiquity of Facebook and the constant buzz surrounding Instagram makes it easy to forget that there are other platforms out there that marketers can utilize.
Twitter for instance. According to research, 46 percent of American Twitter users alone, visit the site at least once a day.
This presents a lot of opportunity for marketing growth. However, you have to know how you can maximize this opportunity. To that end, I’ve compiled below the best ways you can use Twitter as a marketing tool.
1. Use Twitter to do research
Regardless of whether you use Twitter or not, someone somewhere could be tweeting about you or your business. Twitter actually has a search engine that allows you to search your company name or even your competitors, top keywords, and other relevant data that lets you do research and gather important insight straight from users.
2. Use Twitter as your own media outlet
Twitter, just like Facebook can be used as your brand’s platform to announce pertinent news and/or updates. Keep in mind, however, that Twitter is a microblogging platform, so you have very limited space to do so. This means you have to make sure your message is clear, brief, and succinct.
There are also other guidelines to keep in mind. For example, a general rule of thumb is to never post anything negative as this ultimately reflects on your brand. Be sure to check your competitor’s Twitter feeds as well to see what kind of information they share to their respective audiences. You want to make sure that you’re actually posting things that are relevant to your audience and competition, especially those who have been in business longer than you may have a better grasp of this.
You can also add relevant images and videos, or even retweet posts and articles from credible sources.
3. Use Twitter to build your brand
Social media platforms are great at giving your brand an outlet to voice opinions and insights. Ultimately, this helps define your brand’s personality. You can identify a clear tone and vibe that reflects your brand values and engages your audience better.
Of course, the kind of messaging that you post is still a critical component of your overall social media strategy. Combined with the right tone, you can create a brand identity that is unique and engaging.
4. Use Twitter to provide great customer service
Customer service will, and always be, a critical part of your company’s growth strategy. And social media essentially serves as a direct line for customers to reach businesses. Twitter is no different. You can use Twitter to showcase to all your followers and customers that you care about them. Replying to their concerns and engaging with them on this platform shows you always want to do right by them and give them the best possible service.
Bottom line…
Twitter is a great platform to inform and educate consumers. It can also be used to create conversations and deliver great customer service. Maximize it. If you need more guidance on how to go about this, feel free to get in touch with me at Leadspanda and we can continue this conversation.
