How do I improve my social media presence?

We often assume that it’s easy to boost our social media presence simply because we use social media in our daily lives anyway. We have Facebook, use Instagram, and Tweet daily. You may have TikTok or Snapchat, a LinkedIn account, and maybe even YouTube. However, simply being on all these platforms and being more visible on them—enough so audiences are actually going out of their way to find you—is a totally different story.

There’s a reason big businesses spend a lot of money on their social media campaigns. So, if you’re a small business or individual looking to improve your social media presence, here are a few ways you can do it:

1. Bring more to the current trends

Successful social media campaigns don’t just jump on whatever is trending without a clear goal or objective. To boost your social media presence, figure out how you can add value to the topic. Don’t just join a trend mindlessly. Be creative and explore different angles that can potentially attract attention and engage your audience

2. Maximize multimedia

Posts with relevant visuals and videos get more traction on social media. Not everyone is capable of posting a professionally shot 30-seconder with the potential to go viral, but with some creativity, you can find the right multimedia to make your posts more interesting and help start a conversation.

3. Be consistently active

Social media campaigns don’t become successful overnight. You also shouldn’t expect to achieve stellar results just by posting whenever you can. To make the most of your social media, you have to be active across all your channels as consistently as possible. Post every day if possible and take advantage of the different times your users are online.

4. Deliver excellent customer service

You may tend to use social media as a way to inform your audience, but don’t forget that every platform you’re on also lets you interact with your customers. Posting original content and reposting viral material won’t really help your business if you’re not proactively taking the time to address your customer’s concerns, answer their questions, and work to resolve their issues.

Pay close attention to what your customers are saying on social media about your brand or business and be conscious of how you respond. Remember that how you respond to them reflects on your brand, and stellar customer service will ultimately help boost your presence online.

5. Use the right tools

Big businesses have access to a lot of resources—dedicated social media teams that handle accounts and run social media campaigns. For smaller companies, this can be a little more difficult, unless you have the right tools to easily schedule, create, and publish. Analytics allow you to track progress and metrics, as well as learn more about your audience. Basically, using the right tools can do a lot to boost your social media presence.
