What is the importance of guest blogging?
I love talking about content marketing and how effective it is, sharing new ideas and insights, new techniques and strategies. My blog, and even Quora, is a great platform for this. With guest blogging, however, I get the opportunity to do all this to a wider audience. It almost feels like I’m having a friendly, in-depth chat with new people who share the same ideas and goals.
Beyond that, guest blogging is a great way to network, find new prospects, establish credibility in your field, and boost your visibility online. To explain further, here’s why I think guest blogging is a crucial piece of anyone’s marketing strategy:
1. You can demonstrate your authority in your industry
When a third party site publishes your content as a guest blog post, this communicates that you’re a name, brand, or business whose insight into the subject matter is relevant and trustworthy. To that end, this establishes you as someone that readers can count on for credible information, which is always great for your company.
2. You can use it as a way to reinforce your branding
Guest blogging is a great way to boost your exposure. By publishing a guest blog, you can boost your visibility online by expanding your reach outside of your own audience. This helps introduce your business to a whole new set of audiences and potential prospects, which can ultimately help you send new traffic to your own website. The more people you drive to your site, the more opportunity you have to introduce your product or service to people.
3. You can use it to optimize your visibility on search engines
With guest blogging, you can build quality links towards your blog that boosts your authority on search engines. This significantly increases the possibility of prospects finding your blog for your specific niche or industry.
However, take note that while guest blogging is good for link building, you shouldn’t do it solely for this purpose. Sharing quality content across different platforms should always be the primary consideration and goal. Getting quality links is just a great perk that you gain from your efforts.
4. You can build a strong industry network and relationship
Establishing a name in your industry and gaining respect from peers means going beyond your own blogging platforms to create authority. In fact, it also goes beyond submitting one-off guest blogs. You have to prove that you’re more than just a link builder—that you have real, valuable insight that’s relevant to the entire industry and its audience. This means creating relationships with other relevant sites that may open more opportunities or even partnerships for your business.
When done right, you have the opportunity to use guest blogging as a way to boost your marketing efforts. It’s a powerful method to build your network, professional credibility, define brand value, and raise your visibility online.
