What tips do you have for holiday themed landing pages?
As the breeze grows colder and the holidays approach, you want to make sure that your landing pages are designed to address their specific seasonal needs. All you really need to do is to tweak your current landing pages to suit the holidays.
That said, here are some basic landing page suggestions that I usually implement as the holidays approach:
1. Create a temporary holiday landing page
You can improve your landing page performance over the holidays by creating a landing page that fits the season’s holiday theme. For example, creating specific coupon promotions, providing sale announcements, even changing your featured images to showcase gift-worthy products—you can bring together multiple information and present it in one, simple starting point for shoppers.
The idea is to present information to a targeted audience with relevant offers that already highlight your best products, which means they’re more likely to purchase.
2. Optimize your landing pages for mobile users
According to Digital Commerce 360, holiday 2018 ecommerce sales are expected to rise by 15.5%. Given this, make sure that you’re preparing for the influx of customers through all possible sources of traffic. Keep in mind that a bulk of your customers will very likely end up on your landing page while browsing through their mobile devices. To accommodate their needs, keep buttons and links easy to tap, your text is large and legible, and your form fields are brief and concise.
3. Check site speed
Users want instant gratification. Landing pages need to address that need. The best way to ensure this is to confirm that your pages load quickly, whether you’re using mobile or desktop. Slow to load pages are only going to prompt users to bounce off and abandon your page.
In my experience, one of the biggest reasons sites slow down is because images aren’t optimized for online use and are too big. For other reliable site speed tips, be sure to check out Google’s Page Speed Insights Tool.
4. Keep all the important stuff front and center
As much as you want to spread love and cheer during the holidays, the truth is, everyone’s patience wears a little thin during this time of the year. You’re chasing after deadlines while making sure you’re able to finish your Christmas shopping. You’re planning dinners and parties, while still attending to daily life. To that end, people are definitely seeking convenience in everything that they have to do. If your landing page requires customers to read through a wall of text or you make it very difficult to find pertinent information on your site, you’re not enticing them to purchase or convert.
There you have it. With the holiday season just around the corner, give these tried and tested tips a try so your landing pages are ready for your website visitors.
