What are the best digital marketing case studies, that explain concrete techniques?

Case studies are a great way to gain insights into what does and doesn’t work in digital marketing. There are a few that come to mind as particularly potent examples that we can draw lessons from:

1. Stella and Hubspot CRM

What’s most interesting about this case study is that it greatly focuses on customers. This says a lot about Hubspot’s credibility and underscores their customer-centric culture. The case study features a good mix of multimedia, combining well-thought-out images, video interviews, and testimonials with high-quality, concise copywriting.

Towards the end, Hubspot clearly explains the strategy that allowed them to grow their client’s brand, supported by concrete results that paved the way for a stronger corporate partnership and brand expansion.

2. USA Today and Fantasy

This case study looks into how brands can showcase the responsiveness and user interface of a website.

Their approach is explained primarily through video. What better way to demonstrate the efficacy of their strategies than by clearly illustrating the different steps that led to the results in a well-crafted audio-visual exposition.

3. Coca-Cola and App Annie

This case study uses a combination of both text and video to capture their readers’ attention. It makes use of a lot of interactive multimedia elements, including drawings meant to highlight specific points being discussed.

4. Vissla and Bitly

Case studies tend to be longer for a lot of marketing brands. However, given the attention spans of today’s audiences, it’s important to find a way to comprehensively discuss everything you want to tackle in the case study, yet still, produce material that’s easy to read and engaging.

Bitly addresses this challenge by creating a case study in PDF form that gives readers an exclusive, behind the scenes look into their strategies and effectively demonstrates their brand message.

5. Wine.com and RichRelevance

Bite-sized content is always a plus when it comes to case studies. RichRelevance makes sure that readers have access to their case study’s most salient points while still providing an impressively comprehensive and detailed report on brand needs, their solution and strategy, and results. This draws audiences that want a short, digestible case study, along with the option to look at reports that offer more detail.

6. StyeHaul and Asana

Speaking of longer case studies, I particularly like this case study execution by Asana. While very text-heavy, the content is presented from a client’s perspective that shows Asana’s ability to put themselves in their audience’s shoes. It delves into the techniques and strategies that worked for the brand and effectively highlights client testimonial in the most engaging and readable way possible.

There you have it. Hope my answer gives you a better idea of how you can approach your own case studies. There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to writing case studies. However, with a little creativity, you can create real interest from your audience while demonstrating the effectiveness of your product or service.
