What are the most effective ways to promote blogs?

Joseph Jaffe, one of the thought leaders in digital marketing, is often quoted saying that 90% of your time should be spent promoting the blog that you wrote in the remaining 10% of your day.

I have to agree—although I would probably split the effort evenly between researching/writing your post and promoting your blog 50/50. The importance of a well-written, thoroughly researched article cannot be overstated; but what would the point of a great article be if no one read it, right?

So, with that in mind, here’s a rundown of my tried and tested ways to promote blogs.

1. Start Building Your Email List

I think this is one of the most effective ways to turn organic traffic into loyal and engaged readers. When you email your subscribers and give them access to content that’s relevant, they will feel compelled to read and share it with others. As long as you’re providing something they want and need, those people will hopefully subscribe to your blog and continue sharing it with others. It’s a proven cycle that can help you grow your email list.

2. Use Social Media to Draw Attention to Your Posts

If you have a solid following on different social media platforms, make the most of it. When publishing your latest blog, make sure you draw attention to it by posting about it on all your social media platforms. Make your captions catchy and attention-grabbing, with just enough information about your blog to entice potential audiences.

3. Enable Social Shares Directly from the Post

By ensuring your social sharing buttons are visible and easy to use, you’re making it simple for your readers to share your post with others who may find it interesting. Apart from the usual social sharing buttons, I encourage you to try adding click to tweet links in your post. Creating click to tweet links is quite simple—just generate the link, add the social media text you want published, and add it to your post. To give it a try, click this link.

4. Engage Your Readers

Encourage discussion on your blog. You want your audience to read your post and start conversations about it. This gives you great insight into your audience and also gives you better content direction. By providing thoughtful answers to your readers’ questions or engaging in healthy discourse about a particular topic, you’re also establishing your expertise regarding a specific subject and building your authority.

5. Don’t Be Afraid to Repost Popular Content

Reposting old but popular content is a great way to drive consistent traffic to your blogs. Just be sure to space it out in between shares. Track which posts have done well in the past and repurpose them when it’s appropriate.

You can give all these techniques a try to see how well they work for your business. They have been essential for promoting my posts. Hope my answer helps!
