What is the best social network for business and why?
Businesses today have several social media platforms available to choose from. So, as a content marketer, the ones you use to build up your brand will play a lot into your success. While I’m a firm believer that there’s a right social media platform for every brand and message, I do think that the five below are essential to meeting every content marketer’s goals, regardless of what industry you’re in.
1. Facebook
With over two billion monthly users, Facebook is arguably the most popular social network. You can find just about anyone on Facebook. This means that it’s very likely your customer base and target audience will be there, which gives you the opportunity to reach and engage them.
With Facebook, you can also create a space where customers can come together as a community. By creating a dedicated page for your brand and communicating key messages and values that are shared between you and your audience, you start to build rapport and loyalty. By ensuring that you’re sharing relevant media, you build a brand that’s interesting and authoritative.
2. Twitter
Twitter is another essential. It has a more niche demographic, but it has a massive user base, nonetheless. The platform has around 330 million monthly users and is best known for gathering a steady stream of information from every corner of the Internet. Virtually every brand, celebrity, influencer, and personality in the world has a Twitter account. Why? It’s a great way to communicate and connect with your followers. And while it may not have the same audience reach as Facebook, it is still recognized as one of the most accessible social networks today.

3. YouTube
YouTube is considered the second largest search engine after Google, with 2 billion monthly users. Most businesses shy away from YouTube on the assumption that it takes a lot of effort, budget, and specialized skill to create videos. However, with the right tools, you can create simple but entertaining and informative video content. The platform is perfect for product reviews and instructional videos—even customer testimonials.
4. Instagram
Virtually every brand or business has an Instagram account. While it’s a primarily visual platform, it does boast over 1 billion monthly users. It attracts a younger demographic, but it integrates easily with Facebook and Twitter, making it easier to share photos and videos.
5. LinkedIn
LinkedIn is primarily a business platform with over 300 million monthly users. It’s a thriving network of professionals which businesses can use to build brand and business credibility and connect with like-minded professionals.
There are more, of course, but these five should definitely be included in every content marketer’s toolkit. Ensuring that you’re present on all these platforms means better exposure for your business and an opportunity to build a loyal following for your brand.
