How can I make blogging and content marketing more effective?
You’re already making the effort to create high quality content. You research, write, edit meticulously, and publish material that you think is relevant to your audience. What else can you do? How else can you make your blogging and content marketing more effective?
Here are some ideas:
Tie back your efforts to a specific goal
When you create content for your audience, what is your goal? I don’t mean the general, overarching business objectives that your entire content marketing campaign is anchored on. I mean a specific, measurable metric that you want to track and achieve with every piece of content you publish.
If this isn’t clear to you, you’re probably missing out on a very tangible benefit of content marketing—driving people to take action.
If you want your audience to subscribe, follow you on Facebook, or comment on your blog, remember that you have to spell this out at the bottom of your posts and urge your readers to actually do it.
Expand your content platforms
Using your own website as a primary platform to publish your blogs on is great, but where else can you publish content? Remember, blogs aren’t the only forms of content you can make. You can publish videos, photos, infographics, TikToks, and more.
If you want to expand your audience, you have to expand the platforms you’re publishing on and be where they are.
Update your existing content
Don’t neglect your old posts.
Old posts are a gold mine of content that you can quickly update so you have something relevant and up to date for your audience.
Something you wrote five years ago could easily be updated to make it more relevant for a recent topic or issue. Because you don’t have to write anything from scratch, you can create material faster and help boost your site’s ranking.
Track your analytics
Stay on top of your analytics. Most platforms where you publish your content—if not all—have built-in mechanisms to track metrics and deliver insight that you won’t be able to find anywhere else. This is especially helpful when it comes to getting to know your audience and how they respond to your content, as it helps you improve your ability to engage and capture the attention of your audience.
Additionally, the metrics that these platforms offer give a clear picture of whether your content efforts are working. They show you which areas you can improve, what parts you can change, and which efforts deserve more attention and effort because they’re actually working. From these metrics, you can quickly discover new ways to grow and expand your business and improve your content marketing strategy.
The importance of content marketing cannot be overstated, and if you think you’re already doing everything to boost your marketing, remember that this is a constantly evolving industry. As such, there will always be new ways to do things that will help improve how you craft content and engage your audience.
