6 Ways You Can Grow Your Blog’s Subscriber Base

Your ecommerce site’s blog is a critical part of your business.

However, a blog readership doesn’t grow overnight. It takes months, even years, for blogs to start picking up. And while you’ve put a lot of effort towards researching and crafting rock star content, it won’t be of much use unless the world knows about it.

So, if you’re trying to build up a readership—which will hopefully translate to more loyal customers—then make sure that try these tips below:

1. Remember that your blog is a channel–

Let’s say you use shopify as your e-commerce platform. Your shopify blog is a platform or a channel that allows you to provide relevant information that will resonate with your audience. You want your content to touch your users, so that  they find it essential to their lifestyle, interesting to read, and hopefully, shareable.

Keep in mind that a blog is a critical way to communicate to your customers about your products and services by establishing it as a relevant source of information–not as a platform to directly sell to them.

2. Try using a lead magnet

A lead magnet is a way to present an offer to audiences that incentivizes them to provide  their contact information. They usually come in the form of pop-ups or sidebars that present the offer with a form to type in your name and email.

For a lead magnet to be effective, it has to offer something compelling. You could offer exclusive access to articles, downloadable whitepapers or ebooks, even discounts to products and services. But you have to remember to put it in the context of what these special offers can do for them.

3. Get to know your audience

Sometimes, you’re so focused on running your business and getting content published that you neglect one of the most critical parts of blog writing: your audience.

What your audience wants and needs should dictate the kind of content that you are producing, so take the time to get to know them. Learn what’s important to them and how your business can help address their needs.

4. Start networking with fellow bloggers in your industry

You won’t be the only one writing in your niche, establishing a professional relationship with fellow bloggers will help you build your audience. You can do this by leaving carefully crafted, helpful comments on other blogs, engage in online communities relating to your product or service, or join groups and forums.

5. Keep an eye out for trending news

Using breaking news and trending stories is a great reference point for blog post ideas that can help you craft newsworthy posts.

Subscribe to RSS feeds to stay up to date with the latest news in your industry and spot emerging stories that may be relevant to your products and services. When you do anchor a blog post based on trending news, be sure to keep your audience in mind and make sure that your content is answering something that they need.

6. Make it easy to share your content

Make sure your call to action includes a prompt that encourages social shares. Remember to make it very easy for your readers to share your content. Add social sharing buttons at the bottom of the post that allows your  readers to share interesting posts with  friends in a single click.

Be sure to keep it simple and uncluttered as well. Limit options to social media sites that have the most activity. Two or three social media buttons should be enough–any more and it might put off users from actually taking any action.

Keep these six simple tips in mind as you try to grow your subscriber base and you’ll definitely start to reap the benefits.
