Does regular blogging and fresh content help a site, even if it isn’t well shared and marketed?

Yes, definitely.

Blogging for business should always be a consistent part of your overall marketing strategy. Why? Because it helps increase online visibility for your brand or service. Like any other marketing channel (e.g., direct mail, social media, email marketing), blogging can help with business growth.

Here are more ways blogging helps you achieve your marketing goals in more detail:

1. It helps drive more traffic to your website

No matter how obscure you think your website is or how few followers you have, writing consistently and publishing on your blog regularly feeds fresh content to your site that search engines can sweep and pull up during searches.

Think about how people find your website.

They probably type in something related to your industry or business on a search engine. This means the more information you have on your website that is relevant to these searches, the higher the chances of your site ranking high on these searches.

Through consistent blogging, your site appears more during related searches, thereby driving more traffic to you.

2. It gives you more material for social media

Social media is a great tool that can help you get more exposure to new audiences and build loyalty among your existing followers. Every time you write a new post, you have the opportunity to publish it on social networks. For existing followers, this keeps you top-of-mind and builds loyalty. At the same time, it strengthens your social reach with original posts that could reach a new audience.

3. It can convert traffic into leads

As traffic increases on your site, you now have more opportunities to convert visitors into legitimate leads. Simply add a lead-generating call to action in your blog posts to boost your chances of gaining new prospects. Be sure to offer relevant and exclusive offers that make it more compelling for them to take positive action on your CTA.

4. It can generate long-term results

By consistently creating relevant and compelling content for your target audience, you’re able to establish yourself as a credible source of information in your niche or industry. Building authority in your field lets you reap long-term benefits, such as gaining recognition as an expert, becoming a reliable source of information, ushering your prospects through your sales funnel, and helping you build trust with your audience.

One final thing…

Remember that the effort you put into blogging isn’t expensive. You can reap all these benefits without having to spend too much—if any—money at all. A little effort goes a long way. So, my advice? Make an effort to develop original content and consistently publish it on your blog so you begin to steadily reap the rewards of your hard work. It will eventually pay off.
