What is the best way to get new leads?

Great question–especially since 61% of marketers cites generating traffic and leads as one of the top challenges.

I’ve been in this business for a while now and I’ve come across a lot of lead generation techniques and strategies. Here are some that have proven to be very effective for my business:

1. Updating and Optimizing My Social Media Profiles

You can bring in more leads simply by making sure that your social media profiles are updated with all your latest information. Often, we tend to focus on keeping the big three platforms—Facebook, Instagram, Twitter—up to date; but you can’t forget about your LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, and other niche platforms. In addition to the information on your social media pages, be sure to update your profile images and banners so that your pages look professional.

While it sounds so simple, these little changes on your social media profiles will make it easier for you to show up on search results from potential leads.

2. Actually, Use Social Networks to Network

A lot of businesses use social media to inform. But don’t forget, social networks were built to build connections and you can actually connect in a low-effort but high-value way to generate new leads. Start by connecting with as many people as possible. The more connections and followers you build, the wider your reach will be. Engage with your followers—prompt discussions, start conversations, share interesting industry news.

3. Create and Optimize Informative and Engaging Content

Content is a great source of traffic, which can ultimately result in more leads. However, content has to serve your target audience’s needs. It has to be informative and engaging to your niche audience. Pay attention to the quality of content that you churn out. Don’t just write content for the sake of it. Make it strategic and purposeful. Optimize it for SEO to ensure search engines pick it up so you can extend your reach. Add images, videos, and other media that will make it more interesting and shareable. All these can help drive your content’s visibility to a broader audience and generate more leads.

4. Give Quora a Try

I’ve always loved answering questions on Quora, especially since there’s a topic that spans every subject matter imaginable. This little hobby of mine has proven to be very practical and strategic when using it in the context of lead generation. Answering questions related to my field allows me to share a unique perspective in this business, provide new audiences with high value content, and allows me to significantly expand my reach.

5. Guest Blogging

Guest blogging, when done right, can help introduce you to new audiences and potential new leads. When you get published on a highly read and followed site, you essentially tap into a whole new audience that’s already familiar with what you do.
