As marketers, one of the key things that we should focus on are elements that inspire action for our business. It’s not enough that we drive people to our websites. For example, if we’re working towards building our subscriber base, want to usher visitors through our purchasing funnels, get them to sign up, provide their contact details, or even make a purchase — that’s where call to actions (CTAs) come in.
CTAs are designed to get your audience to take a specific action on their pages, which can lead to conversions. If we base it on Hubspot’s official definition, a CTA “is an image or line of text that prompts your visitors, leads, and customers to take action. It is, quite literally, a “call” to take an “action.” An example of a CTA is “click here.”
It sounds so simple doesn’t it? But it’s actually a very effective way to generate leads. How? Take a look below.
1. It’s a simple and straightforward way to inspire action
Effective CTAs are typically action oriented. This helps spell out exactly what you need from your audience and what you want them to do. Why is this useful? Because it takes the guesswork out of their next steps. There’s no confusion as to what they have to do next.
2. CTAs catch your attention
CTAs are designed to draw your attention, catch your eye, and inspire action. By virtue of design and color alone, the CTA should stand out from the rest of the content on your page. This makes it easier for your audience to understand what they have to do next and avail of your offer.
3. It creates more opportunity for potential leads to learn more about your product or service
An effective CTA can drive more leads to your website. This increases your opportunity to inform and educate leads about your offer. All they have to do is click on your CTA.
4. CTAs are an easy way to share content
CTAs can drive users to share content in a straightforward, low-commitment way. This prompts better engagement from users and lets you reach a wider audience. How? Simply adding a button that invites users to share content on their Facebook pages or Instagram gives them the opportunity to easily repost your content to their own network of followers.
5. CTAs are easily customizable
Customizing your CTA copy is an easy way to boost engagement among your leads. Adjusting your tone and verbiage to highlight that you understand what they’re interested in and what’s most relevant to them can do wonders for your conversion. While the typical “click here” has been known to work, highlighting a freebie by saying “download a free copy here” or putting the focus on their potential benefits can be more effective.
If you’re not already using CTAs on your site, the reasons above should clearly illustrate why you should. Give it a try. Let me know how well it works out for you by getting in touch with me via Leadspanda.
